The role of Team Member within Applegreen's operational framework is essential to the daily success of its travel plazas. Positioned within the Operations department, and reporting directly to the General Manager, the Team Member plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the overall functionality of the plaza. This position is classified as non-exempt and includes opportunities for both part-time and full-time employment, especially during peak business periods typically between April 1st and September 30th. Those hired during these times are welcomed as Seasonal Associates, integral to managing the increased flow of customers during the busiest months.
As a Team Member, individuals will be tasked with a range of responsibilities aimed at maintaining high standards of service and operational excellence. Key duties include providing friendly and positive engagement with customers to ensure a memorable experience, accurately handling transactions through the point-of-sale system, and adhering strictly to food safety protocols including proper handling, labeling, and storage of food products. Additionally, Team Members are involved in food preparation, ensuring cleanliness and sanitization of workstations and equipment, and actively participating in cross-selling and up-selling products to maximize customer satisfaction and sales.

Job Requirements
- Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
- frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 40 pounds
- requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers

Job Qualifications
- Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner
- cash handling and customer service experience preferred
Job Duties
- Consistently provide friendly customer service by engaging in positive, helpful interactions with customers
- operate point-of-sale (POS) system, accurately process and receive payment from customers, and follow all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures
- ensure proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labeling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating, and checking temperature of products
- complete a variety of kitchen-related tasks including prepping, thawing, cooking, packaging, wrapping, and cleaning
- stock, clean, and sanitize workstation and equipment
- actively cross-sell and up-sell products
- maintain a solid knowledge of products and services available in the plaza
- follow required brand standards, food safety requirements, as well as all company policies and procedures
- execute a variety of other tasks as assigned
