Job Description
Stags' Leap Winery stands as one of Napa Valley's most historic and admired estates, founded in 1893 and recognized as the original inspiration for the Stags Leap District AVA. Renowned for producing elegant Cabernet Sauvignon, expressive Petite Sirah, and beautifully balanced Chardonnay, the winery's rich heritage is deeply embedded within its walls. From bustling prohibition-era parties that marked a lively chapter in its history to eerie ghost stories whispered through the 19th-century Manor House, Stags' Leap embodies a unique blend of tradition and mystique. The iconic leaping stag featured on its label signifies elegance and resilience, echoing the spirit of both the land and the wines crafted there. Today, the winery honors this legacy by crafting wines that exhibit a delicate balance of power and finesse, created with restraint, character, and a hint of enigma that captivates wine lovers worldwide.
The Tasting Room Support Associate position is pivotal in the smooth day-to-day operations of Stags' Leap Winery’s tasting room, ensuring that the guest experience aligns with the winery’s high standards of hospitality and professionalism. This is an operational role focused on supporting the front-of-house hospitality team by managing the preparation and maintenance of the tasting areas. Responsibilities include setting up tasting spaces, replenishing wines and merchandise, maintaining cleanliness, organizing necessary supplies, and managing behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the tasting room efficient and inviting. This role plays a crucial part in facilitating an exceptional and seamless wine tasting experience for guests, allowing the hospitality team to focus fully on service and engagement.
Ideal candidates will be those with a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The position requires hands-on involvement, frequently involving physical tasks such as restocking, polishing glassware, and assisting during special events and VIP experiences. Candidates should exhibit professionalism and a positive attitude with a dedication to upholding cleanliness and presentation within the tasting room. While previous knowledge of wine and hospitality is a plus, training will be provided to those with a keen interest in the trade. Additionally, this role requires flexibility, including availability on weekends, holidays, and during winery events, alongside a commitment to workplace safety and sanitation standards.
The Tasting Room Support Associate position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18 to $22, complemented by the chance to participate in an incentive pay program tied to sales performance. With estimated on-target earnings from $19.57 to $24.33 per hour, employees can benefit from both base pay and direct sales incentives. Tips, while varying by location and shift, have historically provided additional income opportunities. Beyond compensation, Stags' Leap Winery provides a robust benefits package reflecting the company’s commitment to employee wellbeing. These include paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, volunteer days, flexible work options, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, mental health support, 401(k) with company match, wine perks, and recognition programs.
Joining Stags' Leap Winery means becoming part of a team proud of its diversity and inclusion values and committed to creating an inviting and equitable workplace. The winery embraces all applicants without regard to protected characteristics and provides accommodations during the application process upon request. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about contributing to a storied winery's success in a dynamic and supportive work environment where every team member plays a vital role in preserving the elegance and resilience symbolized by the leaping stag.
