Job Description

Patch is a dedicated provider of in-home childcare services, committed to supporting families across the San Francisco area by offering reliable, trustworthy, and engaging care solutions. As a company, Patch values creating a safe and nurturing environment for children, emphasizing the importance of dependable caregivers who can assist families during summer camp closures, holidays, and busy work weeks. The company operates as a vital partner to local employers and households, ensuring children receive attentive supervision and stimulating activities in their own homes. This summer role is a seasonal, W-2 employment opportunity that lasts until August 31st, tailored to meet the needs of corporate clients and families in the region. Compensation ranges from $22 to $25 per hour, with pay rates adjusted based on location, experience, and specific family requirements. The employment arrangement includes all the benefits and protections of official W-2 status, including direct deposit of paychecks and compliance with state labor laws.

The Seasonal Summer Childcare Provider role at Patch is designed for compassionate, motivated, and reliable individuals who are passionate about childcare and providing children with a safe, structured, and fun environment. The role requires working in the homes of clients scattered throughout the San Francisco area, with daily locations potentially varying. Care providers are assigned a predictable weekly schedule of shifts, primarily Monday through Friday, within typical working hours from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. This structured schedule supports families who rely on consistent attendance and punctuality to maintain their work-life balance.

As a childcare provider, the individual will be responsible for leading age-appropriate summer activities that engage children and encourage active play while limiting screen time. The role emphasizes children's physical safety and emotional well-being, requiring providers to assist with everyday routines such as meal preparation, nap times, and tidying up after activities. Effective communication with parents is important, with providers expected to clearly and professionally update parents upon arrival and at the end of each shift. Beyond caregiving duties, providers will serve as brand ambassadors for Patch by occasionally participating in community outreach—visiting local events, campuses, or partner locations to spread awareness about Patch's childcare network.

This position is ideal for those who have prior childcare experience, possess strong communication skills, and are comfortable using digital tools for schedule management and team communications. Because this role involves working closely with children, all candidates must pass a thorough trust and safety vetting process, including background checks and fingerprinting in line with the California Fair Chance Act. Physical requirements include being active and hands-on throughout the shift, with the ability to lift children up to 40 pounds and maintain alert supervision. Adults prepared to nurture and engage children in an enriching summer environment will find this role rewarding and impactful.
