The available position is a full-time management role focused on assisting in the planning and execution of meetings and special events from August 3 to January 30. With a competitive hourly pay range of $28.35 to $30.27 and eligibility for bonuses, this role offers both financial rewards and career growth opportunities within an internationally recognized hospitality leader. The role involves seamless coordination between sales and operations teams to ensure flawless event execution, maximizing guest satisfaction, safety, and overall operational success. Candidates in this position lead the team to consistently achieve and surpass daily and weekly goals related to sales, attendance, and service quality.

The responsibilities include managing meeting and event operations and budgets, researching competitive market offerings, and implementing event management strategies aligned with corporate objectives. A key aspect is to conduct daily walkthroughs of banquet facilities to uphold quality standards and client satisfaction, alongside training employees on event-related software such as ticketing, retail, inventory management, and space utilization. The role also emphasizes profitability by fostering relationships with vendors, upselling opportunities, managing expenses, and enhancing merchandise displays.

Customer service excellence is paramount, with the manager cultivating an atmosphere that exceeds guest expectations. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years experience in hospitality, event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related area
  • OR two-year degree from accredited university in hospitality or related major
  • One year experience in hospitality, event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or comparable area
  • Ability to lead and manage teams
  • Customer service orientation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in event management software
  • Ability to work full-time during seasonal timeframe of August 3 to January 30
  • Willingness to work onsite at 1000 H St, Chula Vista, California

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Lead the team to meet and exceed daily and weekly goals including sales, attendance, guest satisfaction, and safety
  • Research and analyze new products, pricing, and services of competition
  • Assist in apprise property of all groups impacting operations
  • Assist in execution of event management strategy aligned with company business strategy
  • Conduct daily banquet floor walkthroughs to promote client satisfaction and quality standards
  • Learn, operate, and train employees on event-related software systems including ticketing, retail, inventory, and space usage
  • Assist in developing vendor relationships and service agreements to enhance event experience and increase revenue
  • Create upselling opportunities during event planning
  • Manage department controllable expenses to achieve budget goals
  • Manage merchandise inventory and enhance displays to increase sales
  • Create an atmosphere exceeding guest expectations in all event management areas
  • Set positive examples for guest relations
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service
  • Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints
  • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service
  • Verify employee understanding of expectations and parameters
  • Strive to improve service performance
  • Emphasize guest satisfaction in departmental meetings and focus on continuous improvement
  • Interview, select, and train employees
  • Appraise employee productivity and efficiency for promotion recommendations
  • Ensure safety and security of employees and property
  • Monitor employee attendance and record absences and tardiness
  • Help supervisors achieve development goals
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals with direct reports according to SOPs
