The role of Server in the Cabanas or Club Restaurant at Canterbury Park is an exciting opportunity for those who thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment focused on delivering exceptional customer service. This tipped position requires an individual who is courteous, professional, and passionate about creating a memorable experience for all guests. Servers are tasked with upholding Canterbury Park’s mission to provide fun and entertainment by delivering prompt and courteous service, managing assigned workstations, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout their shifts. The position demands a high degree of hospitality and a positive demeanor, ensuring guests are welcomed and served with care and attention to detail. Serving duties include taking and delivering food and beverage orders accurately while ensuring all transactions are finalized correctly. Additionally, employees must be vigilant in adhering to alcohol service policies, including verifying identification and monitoring responsible service practices. Working at Canterbury Park also involves teamwork and collaboration, with employees encouraged to contribute ideas for growth and demonstrate leadership by example. Physical stamina is essential, as the job often requires standing, walking, and lifting items up to 20 pounds, as well as flexibility to work varied shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • previous serving experience
  • must be able to pass Canterbury Park's pre-employment screening which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history
  • must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license

  • knowledge of cash, credit and coupon handling procedures
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Lead by example
  • responsible for maintaining a high degree of hospitality as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times
  • create high levels of morale, foster teamwork, inspire collaboration, and provide suggestions for growth to management
  • maintain prompt and courteous service to all Canterbury Park guests
  • responsible for assigned work station set-up and maintaining clean and neat station throughout shift
  • responsible for serving guests, taking and delivering orders of food and refreshment with high degree of hospitality and finalizing transactions accurately
  • accountable to learn and follow all policies and procedures in conjunction with alcohol awareness training (refusing service, asking for IDs, etc.)
  • follow cash, credit and coupon handling procedures
  • in charge of restocking and resetting of work station for next shift
  • responsible for maintaining clean tables in the assigned area throughout the shift
  • perform other duties as assigned
