Job Description

Music & Arts is a premier company dedicated to advancing K-12 music education across the United States. Established in 1952 in Bethesda, Maryland, Music & Arts began as a modest operation offering printed music, music lessons, dance lessons, and art supplies. Over the decades, the company refined its focus solely on music, which has become the cornerstone of its mission. Today, Music & Arts has expanded its footprint nationally, boasting over 225 retail stores, 200 educational representatives, and 250 affiliate locations. The company operates under the umbrella of the Guitar Center enterprise, solidifying its position as the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the United States. At Music & Arts, the culture embraces creativity and passion for music, encouraging employees to find their unique sound while contributing to the larger goal of making music accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The company is committed to customer service, integrity, and respect, aiming to foster lifelong musicianship and enrich communities through music education.

The Seasonal Rental Assistant role at Music & Arts is integral to supporting local school instrument rental events within assigned regions. This temporary position offers a dynamic and interactive opportunity to engage directly with families, parents, and students as they embark on their musical journeys. In collaboration with Education Account Managers, the Seasonal Rental Assistant helps coordinate and execute event logistics, including setup and breakdown of rental equipment and signage, and ensures a smooth event flow. Responsibilities include preparing inventory and paperwork, managing instrument movement and setup, and assisting customers with their instrument rental choices using intuitive mobile and tablet tools. Strong interpersonal communication is essential, as the Assistant welcomes and guides families, answers questions, and assists in completing rentals efficiently and accurately. This position also requires flexibility in schedule, including the ability to work evenings and travel within the designated marketplace to various schools and storage or retail locations.

Beyond operational duties, this role provides an enriching experience in the music retail industry, combining organizational skills with a passion for music education. Candidates can expect to lift or move items up to 50 pounds regularly, communicate professionally with internal teams and event attendees, and be part of a mission-driven company dedicated to spreading the joy of music. The Seasonal Rental Assistant position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in fast-paced event environments, value teamwork, and want to contribute positively to educational experiences in music. Music & Arts fosters an inclusive workplace and offers equal employment opportunities regardless of background. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their resumes and cover letters along with salary expectations to join this enthusiastic and talented team.
