Job Description

Music & Arts is a national leader in K-12 music education, dedicated to fostering creativity and lifelong musical engagement among students and communities. Founded in 1952 by Benjamin O'Brien in Bethesda, Maryland, the company began as a small house offering printed music, music lessons, dance lessons, and art supplies. Over the years, Music & Arts focused exclusively on music, growing its reach and impact as it expanded nationwide. Today, it operates over 225 retail stores, has more than 200 educational representatives, and collaborates with 250 affiliate locations. As part of the Guitar Center enterprise, Music & Arts holds the distinction of being the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the United States. The company prides itself on putting customers first, acting with respect and integrity, and passionately fulfilling its mission to inspire music education and participation across the country.

In this seasonal role, team members will support Music & Arts' school instrument rental events, playing an essential part in creating a seamless experience for families and schools alike. The position involves assisting Education Account Managers with the setup and breakdown of rental events, including arranging tables, signage, and managing the flow of events to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction. The role requires physically lifting and moving instruments and supplies, sometimes up to 50 pounds, a testament to the hands-on nature of the work.

Additionally, team members will prep inventory and paperwork before each event, tagging instruments and verifying checklists to maintain organization and accuracy. During the rental events, the role becomes highly interactive, requiring greeting parents and students warmly, answering their questions, helping them choose the appropriate instruments and rental options, and completing the transaction process efficiently using mobile or tablet tools. Communication is key in this role as team members will regularly coordinate with Education Account Managers, fellow team members, school staff, and customers to ensure events run smoothly.

The position involves traveling between assigned preparation locations—including Music & Arts warehouses, storage facilities, or retail stores—and event sites within the assigned marketplace. Flexibility and availability during evenings are essential, reflecting the seasonal and time-sensitive nature of these rental events. Music & Arts values diversity and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunities without discrimination and offering accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about music education, enjoy working in community-focused roles, and have a knack for customer service. The company seeks candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent who are proficient with common software tools like Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, and possess a valid driver’s license and automotive insurance. The ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English is required, while bilingual candidates fluent in both English and Spanish are highly desired to better communicate with diverse families. Intermediate knowledge of band and orchestral instruments is considered a plus, though not mandatory.

Joining Music & Arts means becoming part of a passionate team that encourages personal growth, values creativity, and is committed to making a meaningful difference in music education nationwide. If you love music and enjoy helping others explore their musical potential, this seasonal role offers an exciting, rewarding opportunity to be directly involved in supporting students’ musical journeys.
