Job Description
Music & Arts is the nation’s leading partner in K-12 music education, committed to supporting young musicians and their families across the United States. Founded in 1952 by Benjamin O’Brien in Bethesda, Maryland, Music & Arts began as a small shop offering printed music, music lessons, dance lessons, and art supplies. Soon after its opening, the company decided to focus exclusively on music to better serve its customers, a decision that has defined its mission ever since. Over the years, Music & Arts has grown significantly, expanding nationwide through organic growth and strategic acquisitions, including its merger with American Music in 2005. Today, it stands as the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the United States, operating over 225 retail stores, more than 200 educational representatives, and over 250 affiliate locations. The company is part of the Guitar Center enterprise and is based in Frederick, Maryland.
Music & Arts is dedicated to fostering creativity and the joy of music by encouraging its teammates to find their personal sound. The company strongly believes in putting customers first, engaging with respect and integrity, and fulfilling its mission with passion. This commitment to quality service and educational support makes Music & Arts a respected leader in the music education community. Whether serving seasoned musicians or beginners, the company strives to create lifelong musicians who experience the joy and happiness that playing an instrument brings.
This seasonal role focuses on bringing school instrument rental events to life across your local area. Working closely with Education Account Managers, you will assist with event set-up, preparation, and execution. The role involves helping families get started with the rental process by welcoming parents and students, answering questions, and guiding them through choosing the right instruments and equipment. Utilizing simple mobile and tablet tools, you will help complete rental transactions efficiently during these events.
As an essential team member, you will be responsible for setting up and breaking down rental events at schools, including preparing tables, signage, and managing the overall event flow. Physical demands include loading, unloading, and moving instruments and supplies, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. You will also prepare inventory and necessary paperwork, such as tagging and checklists, before each event. Clear and professional communication with Education Account Managers, colleagues, families, and sometimes school staff is vital for success in this position.
Travel between assigned preparation locations and school event sites within the assigned marketplace is required. Preparation work may take place at Music & Arts warehouses, storage facilities, or retail stores. Completing required training and supporting additional tasks as assigned will also be part of your responsibilities.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about music and education who enjoy interacting with families and being part of community events. It offers the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while gaining valuable experience in customer service, event coordination, and music education support. By joining Music & Arts, you become part of a highly regarded company that values integrity, respect, and a shared passion for music.
