Job Description
Music & Arts is the nation's leading partner in K-12 music education, dedicated to inspiring creativity and fostering musical growth among students across the United States. With a rich history dating back to 1952, the company has evolved from a small music business in Bethesda, MD, into a nationwide network of over 225 retail stores, more than 200 educational representatives, and 250 affiliate locations. Music & Arts is part of the Guitar Center enterprise, the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the country, and is renowned for its commitment to customer service, educational support, and community engagement.
At Music & Arts, the core mission is to create lifelong musicians and make a positive difference by providing access to musical instruments and education. The company encourages teammates to explore their individual sound and contribute passionately to a culture of respect, integrity, and customer-first service. This seasonal role centers on supporting instrument rental events in local schools and communities. Collaborating with Education Account Managers, the role involves hands-on event preparation, set-up and breakdown of rental events, inventory management, and direct engagement with families.
As a key contributor during these events, the successful candidate will welcome parents and students, answer questions, assist in selecting rental instruments, and ensure transactions are completed efficiently using mobile and tablet technology. The role requires physical activity including lifting instruments and supplies up to 50 pounds and the ability to travel between prep locations, schools, and retail facilities within the assigned marketplace. This position demands excellent communication skills to interact professionally with diverse audiences including educators, parents, students, and team members.
The Music & Arts rental event associate role offers a dynamic and rewarding experience for individuals passionate about music and education, providing an opportunity to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment. This entry-level position values reliability, attention to detail, and customer service orientation. Starting pay begins at $15 per hour, with compensation varying based on experience and background. The seasonal schedule requires availability during evenings and the willingness to work a flexible timetable to meet event demands.
Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and are proficient with Microsoft Office software, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word. A valid driver’s license and automotive insurance are mandatory due to the travel requirements intrinsic to the position. Additional assets include bilingual abilities in English and Spanish and intermediate knowledge of band and orchestral instruments, which enhance communication with families and support event success.
Music & Arts embraces diversity and equal opportunity employment principles. The company is committed to accommodating qualified individuals with disabilities, ensuring access to the application process, and maintaining a workplace culture rooted in fairness and respect. This role is perfect for motivated individuals who enjoy music, value education, and want to play an active role in supporting school music programs through direct community involvement.
