Job Description

Music & Arts is the nation’s leading partner in K-12 music education, dedicated to enriching the lives of students by providing exceptional instrument rental services and musical education resources. Established in 1952, Music & Arts began as a small local business in Bethesda, MD, founded by Benjamin O’Brien. Over the decades, it has grown into a national leader through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions, becoming the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the United States. Operating as part of the Guitar Center enterprise, Music & Arts boasts a broad network of over 225 retail stores, 200 educational representatives, and 250 affiliate locations across the country. The company thrives on a mission of fostering creativity through music, making it accessible and enjoyable for musicians of all skill levels, and emphasizing passionate customer service built on respect and integrity.

This seasonal position plays a vital role in helping bring school instrument rental events to life within your community. Working closely with Education Account Managers, you will contribute to setting up and preparing rental events at schools, coordinating materials, signage, and other event essentials to ensure efficient flow and a welcoming atmosphere. Your participation extends beyond logistics to direct interaction with families; you will greet parents and students as they arrive, assist them in choosing appropriate instruments, answer their questions, and facilitate a smooth rental transaction process using user-friendly mobile and tablet technology. The role requires both physical stamina—for handling and moving instruments and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds—and excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, school personnel, and customers.

In addition to on-site responsibilities at schools, some preparatory work will take place at Music & Arts warehouses, storage facilities, or retail stores within the assigned area. The position demands flexibility, including the ability to work evenings and travel within the local marketplace. Training will be provided to ensure familiarity with operational procedures and technology. While proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) is necessary, bilingual candidates fluent in English and Spanish are especially valued for their ability to connect with diverse family populations. A general understanding of band and orchestral instruments also enhances your effectiveness in this role.

Working at Music & Arts means becoming part of a creative and supportive environment that encourages personal growth and a deeper connection with music. This employment opportunity is perfect for individuals who are passionate about music education, enjoy engaging with the community, and are motivated by contributing to the joyful introduction of music to young learners. By joining this team, you help make musical experiences accessible to students, fulfilling the company’s enduring mission to nurture lifelong musicians and enrich lives through music.
