Seasonal Recreational Aide

The City of Madison, Alabama, is seeking dedicated and energetic individuals to join their Recreation Department as Seasonal Part-Time Recreation Aides. Responsibilities include securing buildings, monitoring activities to prevent unauthorized use or behavior, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with the setup and preparation of equipment for sports, camps, and special events. This role requires interaction with a diverse group of patrons including campers, players, coaches, parents, and other community members, serving as a positive role model while actively communicating and cooperating with all participants. The position demands flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during school breaks, reflecting the dynamic schedules typical of community recreational programs.

The ideal candidate must be at least 17 years old, possess a strong work ethic, demonstrate dependability, and have experience or enthusiasm for working with the general public and children. Prior experience in the recreational or educational fields is preferred but not required. Moreover, candidates should have the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, meet physical requirements including mobility for supervisory duties, and maintain a strong driving record for city insurance purposes. CPR and First Aid certification are necessary to ensure the safety of all participants. This role also includes some light maintenance duties, field preparation such as raking and lining ball fields, and assisting with registrations and administrative tasks.
