Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences and fostering an inclusive work environment. Among its prestigious portfolio is the Autograph Collection, a distinguished group of four and five-star independent hotels that celebrate individuality, bold character, and originality. The Autograph Collection is designed to appeal to The Individualist, a traveler who seeks unique, memorable experiences beyond just a place to stay, whether for personal or corporate travel. One of the gems within this collection is the Lido House Autograph Collection located in the scenic Newport Beach, California. This hotel epitomizes luxury and a dedication to personalized service, offering guests a distinctive experience marked by comfort, style, and attentive hospitality.
The Lido House Autograph Collection is currently offering an exciting culinary position that blends traditional food and beverage responsibilities with modern online educational opportunities. In partnership with the Rouxbe Cooking School, this position provides culinary associates with access to a self-paced online culinary training curriculum. This educational program features hundreds of expertly designed and visually engaging lessons intended to enhance culinary skills that employees can immediately apply on the job. The role is part-time and non-management, offering a competitive pay rate of $29.20 per hour, ensuring accessibility for those seeking flexible work schedules alongside skill development.
This culinary associate position requires candidates to prepare and cook food according to established recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food preparation checklists. Associates will engage in various kitchen tasks such as portioning, chopping, and storing ingredients, as well as baking and the appropriate use of kitchen tools and appliances. Food safety and hygiene are paramount, with a strong emphasis on following safety handling policies and procedures, including maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen workspace. The associate will also monitor kitchen appliance and food temperatures, promptly reporting any issues to management to ensure the highest standards of food quality and safety.
Beyond cooking, associates will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of their workstations through regular washing, disinfecting, and adherence to sanitation protocols. Monitoring food quality and portion control throughout the shift ensures consistent delivery of high standards in every meal. This position demands adherence to company policies regarding safety, security, uniform, and professional appearance, along with maintaining confidentiality and protecting company assets.
Interpersonal skills are also valued, as associates will communicate clearly and professionally with team members and guests, answer telephones with proper etiquette, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Physically, the role requires the ability to perform various movements such as lifting or carrying objects up to 25 pounds, standing for extended periods, and navigating different floor surfaces. It also entails flexibility in handling other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
The preferred qualifications for the role include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with less than one year of related work experience, and no supervisory background required. This makes it an ideal entry-level position for individuals passionate about culinary arts who are eager to learn and grow within a globally respected hospitality brand.
Joining the Lido House Autograph Collection means becoming part of Marriott International's inclusive team, celebrated for diversity and committed to equal opportunity employment. Employees at this establishment are supported in their career journey, benefiting from structured training programs, a welcoming work environment, and the chance to contribute to a hotel brand that prides itself on offering unique, high-quality experiences. This role is an excellent opportunity for culinary enthusiasts looking to start or advance their careers where they can develop their skills and be part of a vibrant, prestigious hotel community.
