Job Description
Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream is a beloved community-focused ice cream company known for its commitment to sustainability, quality, and local sourcing. Founded to be a multi-generational gathering place, Molly Moon's places happiness and responsible practices at the heart of its mission. Each scoop of their ice cream reflects a dedication to fresh ingredients, environmental stewardship, and building strong community partnerships. Located in vibrant neighborhoods, their scoop shops serve as hubs of joy where customers can enjoy premium homemade ice cream crafted with care by culinary and hospitality teams passionate about quality and inclusivity.
The Seasonal Ice Cream Maker position at Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream is a dynamic, hands-on role perfect for those seeking an engaging summer job that combines craftsmanship with teamwork and operational excellence. This hourly position offers a competitive starting wage of $25.00 per hour, with opportunities for wage growth up to $28.35 per hour based on tenure and performance. Work hours typically start at 25+ hours per week, with schedules requiring flexibility, including weekend and evening shifts.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with your chef and fellow ice cream makers to produce high-quality batches of Molly Moon's signature ice cream and toppings. Your day will start with coordinating production plans alongside your chef, followed by independently managing the preparation and crafting of ice cream using precise recipes that involve scaling ingredients and applying basic kitchen math skills. The fast-paced production environment calls for attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to multitask effectively.
You will be responsible for producing between 32 and 64 tubs of ice cream each shift and labeling, packing, and storing over 100 pints daily to keep the scoop shops well-stocked and customers satisfied. Tasting each batch for quality control is essential, ensuring flavors and textures meet Molly Moon's high standards and communicating any deviations to your chef. Additionally, you will prepare homemade bases, toppings, and inclusions such as hot fudge, cookie dough, and caramel sauces.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment is critical in this role. You will adhere strictly to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, complete daily cleaning and periodic deep cleaning tasks, and assist with inventory management by tracking supplies and ingredients to inform production needs.
Ideal candidates will have a passion for food and teamwork, a willingness to learn, and the stamina to work on their feet for extended periods while lifting up to 50 pounds and working in cooler environments like freezers. The position also requires a Washington State food handler’s permit before starting work and a reliable way to access schedules and communication via the internet and phone.
Joining Molly Moon's means becoming part of an inclusive and diverse workplace culture that embodies values such as being smart, generous, homemade, joyful, and brave. The company offers comprehensive benefits including free quality medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees and their children, paid sick and safe time, paid vacation, a 401k plan with employer match, childcare subsidies, and perks like free ice cream and subsidized transportation. If you are detail-oriented, motivated, and excited about being part of a joyful food production team, the Seasonal Ice Cream Maker role offers a fulfilling and rewarding opportunity.
