Job Description
Global Connections to Employment (GCE) is a nationwide organization dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with significant disabilities, including war-wounded veterans. Established in 1986, GCE has built a legacy and reputation as one of the country’s largest private employers of persons with disabilities. The organization partners with the U.S. military, commercial businesses, community organizations, and federal, state, and local governments to offer comprehensive employment solutions across various industries including custodial services, facilities maintenance, food services, and other business sectors. GCE’s mission focuses on empowerment through work, fostering independence, and creating pathways for successful, fulfilling careers for those who are often overlooked in traditional job markets.
The role of Maid Service Attendant at GCE is a seasonal position available from May through October, working primarily to meet the needs of Air Force Lodging Standards. This position is integral to maintaining cleanliness and high-quality service in lodging environments, contributing directly to customer satisfaction and operational excellence. The Maid Service Attendant is responsible for safely performing assigned housekeeping duties with an emphasis on thoroughness, professionalism, and adherence to strict cleanliness and safety protocols. Employees in this role must demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to various cleaning tasks, managing both the physical and mental demands of the job effectively.
The compensation for this seasonal role includes a total pay rate of $30.01 per hour, which breaks down to a base wage of $25.08 plus $4.93 in health and welfare benefits paid as additional wages. The health and welfare benefits are provided by the federal government under the Services Contract Act (SCA) and apply to seasonal team members only. This competitive pay structure reflects GCE's commitment to compensating employees fairly while promoting a healthy and sustainable work environment.
Physical demands for this job include frequent bending, crouching, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching above the head, sitting for tasks such as driving, and lifting up to 40 pounds regularly with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. The role may also involve working indoors in various weather conditions and handling cleaning chemicals safely. The Maid Service Attendant must be adaptable to changing schedules that may include early mornings, mid-mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, the job requires the ability to follow emergency operation work assignments as dictated by customer needs.
Because GCE is committed to inclusivity and accessibility, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. This further embodies GCE's mission to provide equitable employment opportunities to all. The employer also maintains a drug-free workplace policy and conducts mandatory drug testing and background screenings as part of the hiring process to ensure a safe and dependable working environment.
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply online through GCE’s career portal, which provides a seamless application process. GCE’s HR department is also available to support applicants who require additional assistance during the hiring process. Global Connections to Employment stands as an Equal Opportunity Employer, proudly encouraging individuals with disabilities and veterans to apply, reflecting their genuine dedication to diversity and social impact within the workforce.
