Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, renowned for its dedication to excellence, innovation, and providing unparalleled guest experiences. Among its prestigious brands, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts stand out as an embodiment of timeless glamour and modern sophistication, offering luxury accommodations and bespoke service at more than 50 prime locations worldwide. Established in the early 20th century with the opening of The St. Regis hotel in New York by John Jacob Astor IV, the brand continues to champion uncompromising standards and anticipatory service, ensuring that every guest feels uniquely valued and cared for by a team of gracious hosts who blend classic elegance with contemporary sensibilities.

Marriott International fosters an inclusive and diverse workforce by embracing associates from varied backgrounds and experiences. Committed to equality and non-discrimination, Marriott ensures equal opportunities for all applicants, including those with disabilities, veteran status, or criminal histories in alignment with applicable laws. Associating with Marriott International means becoming part of a prestigious global family that prioritizes career growth, professional development, and delivering extraordinary experiences to guests.

This role is located at the luxurious St. Regis property in Newport Beach, California, operating within the Food and Beverage sector of the hospitality industry. The position is a full-time, non-management role focused on providing excellent guest service through greeting, seating, and assisting guests within the dining environment. Compensation for this hourly role is set at $17.90, with eligibility for tips, making it a rewarding opportunity for those passionate about hospitality and guest interaction.

The primary responsibility of the role is to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests from the moment they enter the dining area. This includes greeting guests warmly, determining party sizes, and escorting them to clean, appropriately set tables. The role demands attention to detail in maintaining the presentation of menus and place settings, ensuring that each guest receives necessary items such as clean silverware, napkins, and current menus. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas throughout service times is also a crucial aspect of the job, adhering to the 'clean-as-you-go' principle.

In addition to physical tasks such as moving and arranging tables and chairs to accommodate groups with specific needs, this position requires vigilance to monitor dining room availability, service quality, and overall guest safety and satisfaction. Teamwork plays a crucial role; employees are expected to support one another, communicate professionally, and contribute to a harmonious work environment.

Safety and professionalism are emphasized, with the expectation that employees follow company policies rigorously, complete required safety training and certifications, and report any incidents or unsafe conditions promptly. Personal presentation and confidentiality are also important, with employees required to maintain a clean, professional appearance and protect proprietary information and company assets.

This role offers an excellent entry point for individuals new to the hospitality industry, as no prior related work experience or supervisory experience is required. A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred, and the job offers a supportive environment for personal and professional growth. Marriott International encourages enthusiastic, customer-focused individuals to apply, promising opportunities where one can belong to a global team, begin a meaningful career purpose, and become the best version of oneself. Embracing this role means engaging in a rewarding hospitality career with a historic and prestigious brand committed to excellence, warmth, and service quality.
