Job Description
Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality company, known for its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences through a diverse portfolio of hotel brands. Among these, JW Marriott stands out as a luxury portfolio, comprising over 100 stunning properties located in gateway cities and unique resort destinations worldwide. Marriott International is dedicated to creating an inclusive work environment where associates feel valued and empowered, recognizing that the key to guest satisfaction lies in the well-being and happiness of its employees. JW Marriott, in particular, emphasizes a culture that fosters confidence, innovation, and genuine interaction, carrying forward the legacy of its founder, J. Willard Marriott. This is reflected in the way the company cultivates camaraderie among coworkers, offers ample opportunities for training and development, and focuses on promoting a holistic approach to associate well-being through The JW Treatment™.
The role of Host at JW Marriott's Irvine location offers an entry point into the hospitality industry with the opportunity to contribute directly to the guest experience. This is a part-time, non-management position with a pay rate of $26.15 per hour, plus eligibility for tips. As the initial point of contact for guests, the Host plays a crucial role in setting the tone for the dining experience by providing courteous and efficient seating arrangements. Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, determining party size, guiding them to clean and available tables, pulling out chairs, and ensuring menus are clean, up-to-date, and readily accessible. Hosts are also tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of the dining area, managing seating arrangements to accommodate special needs, and continuously monitoring guest comfort and safety throughout their visit.
Beyond guest interaction, the Host adheres to all company policies related to safety, security, and professional standards, including maintaining personal appearance and confidentiality. The position requires using clear, professional communication skills both in-person and over the telephone, and involves a collaborative work environment where teamwork and support are essential for meeting service goals. Physical demands include standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, and handling items weighing up to 10 pounds. Importantly, JW Marriott welcomes candidates without prior work or supervisory experience, making this role ideal for individuals looking to start a career in food and beverage service within a prestigious global hospitality brand. As part of the Marriott family, the Host position not only offers a competitive wage and hourly work schedule but also the chance to grow within a company renowned for its leadership in hospitality and employee development.
