Creative Dining Services is currently seeking full-time Seasonal General Food Service Workers to join the team at Geneva Camp and Retreat Center for the 2026 camp season. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a stunning natural setting on the shores of Lake Michigan, where campers and staff come together for a memorable summer experience. The role is seasonal, running from June through August 2026, and is ideal for individuals passionate about food service, eager to gain hands-on experience, and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment.

As a General Food Service Worker at Geneva Camp and Retreat Center, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of food and beverage services. Your responsibilities will include preparing and serving meals, setting up service areas, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation, and providing excellent customer service to campers and staff alike. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow food safety guidelines, and the flexibility to assist in various kitchen and dining tasks as needed. Whether you are setting up the salad bar, replenishing food stations, or washing serviceware, your contribution is essential to creating enjoyable dining experiences throughout the camp season.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • basic reading and math skills
  • effective communication skills in primary guest languages
  • ability to perform manual tasks and follow detailed instructions
  • availability during June through August
  • willingness to work in a camp environment
  • ability to work full-time for the duration of the season

Job Qualifications

  • high school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • basic reading and math skills
  • ability to communicate and understand primary languages used by guests
  • previous food service experience is a plus
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is beneficial

Job Duties

  • sets up food service, kitchen, or salad area facilities, equipment, and utensils
  • checks food temperatures and prepares areas for operations
  • operates cooking or bakery equipment as assigned
  • prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meals and beverages
  • serves food items to campers and staff ensuring appropriate portions
  • replenishes food, condiments, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays
  • cleans and maintains work areas including floors, facilities, dishes, utensils, and equipment
  • collects and places garbage in designated containers
  • washes pots, pans, and other serviceware ensuring sanitary handling
  • performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
