Job Description

The Colorado Chautauqua Association (CCA) is a renowned historic and cultural landmark located at the base of the Flatirons in Colorado. Known for its beautiful and scenic surroundings, the Association manages one of the most cherished landscapes in the state. As a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the natural and architectural heritage of the Chautauqua grounds, CCA offers a unique environment where history, community, and nature intersect to provide an enriching experience for visitors and residents alike. The grounds feature a variety of lawns, flower beds, shrubs, trees, groundcovers, planters, and cottage gardens, all of which require careful and dedicated maintenance to preserve their charm and health throughout the year. This outdoor space is treasured not only for its aesthetic appeal but also as a community gathering place that enhances the cultural fabric of Boulder, Colorado.

The Colorado Chautauqua Association is currently hiring Seasonal Gardening/Landscape Crew Members for the 2026 season, with positions available through October 12, 2026. This full-time seasonal role offers an average of 40 hours per week and requires flexibility as workdays may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays based on the operational needs of the Association. The starting pay is $20.50 per hour, making it an appealing opportunity for landscape professionals and gardening enthusiasts who want to work in an inspiring, outdoor environment. This seasonal position focuses on maintaining the grounds' visual appeal and ecological health and is ideal for candidates with experience in mowing, trimming, edging, and a general passion and knowledge of landscape care.

As a Seasonal Grounds Staff member, you will be instrumental in upholding the historical integrity and natural beauty of the Chautauqua grounds. Responsibilities include the regular upkeep of lawns through mowing and edging, caring for flower beds and garden areas, planting and nurturing various plantings such as flowers, shrubs, and trees, as well as managing planters and specialty garden spaces throughout the campus. The role also involves supporting the overall landscape upkeep, ensuring that the grounds continue to reflect the high standards for which the Colorado Chautauqua Association is known. Collaboration with other team members will occasionally be required to assist with larger projects and maintain the operational harmony of the grounds.

CCA celebrates diversity and inclusion, actively promoting an equal opportunity workplace where individuals of all ages, races, genders, orientations, and backgrounds are welcomed and valued. Applicants are encouraged to submit a brief statement expressing their interest in the position, underscoring their commitment and enthusiasm for landscape maintenance and outdoor work in such a historic and breathtaking setting. If you are passionate about outdoor work and wish to contribute to maintaining one of Colorado’s iconic green spaces, this seasonal gardening opportunity offers both professional fulfillment and a chance to engage with a distinguished community institution.
