Job Description

The USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation ("USTA Mid-Atlantic") is a prominent nonprofit organization and one of the 17 regional foundations affiliated with the United States Tennis Association. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit serves an active community of approximately 32,000 members spread across the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and eastern and southern West Virginia. Dedicated to promoting the sport of tennis, the USTA Mid-Atlantic works tirelessly to foster community building, create accessible opportunities for all, and encourage participation in tennis among all age groups and backgrounds. The USTA Mid-Atlantic is currently seeking organized and customer-focused Seasonal Part-Time Event Staff to help facilitate competitive tennis events in the Mid-Atlantic region. This role primarily supports Adult League championships by assisting with both administrative functions and on-site event execution. Employees in this role work closely with USTA Mid-Atlantic staff, volunteers, vendors, and tournament directors to provide an organized, welcoming, and high-quality experience for players, families, and spectators. With a focus on customer service and attention to detail, the Seasonal Part-Time Event Staff ensure that tournaments run smoothly and that all participants receive helpful and courteous support.

In this seasonal position, individuals will be responsible for critical event logistics such as player check-in, match coordination, and venue setup including signage and hospitality areas. The role requires efficient communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced and sometimes outdoor environment. Additionally, the staff member will assist in enforcing facility policies and tournament procedures to uphold the integrity and safety of the events. The opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate of $17.00, reflecting the part-time and seasonal nature of the position. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma GED or equivalent
  • Ability to work evenings weekends and outdoors during events
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced event environment and interact positively with participants and guests
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of USTA Mid-Atlantic
  • Ability to sit stand and walk frequently throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds with or without assistance
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions using hands and arms
  • Must reside in the Mid-Atlantic region (MD DC VA WV) and be available to work onsite in Newport News VA on April 10-13 April 17-20 and April 24-27 and/or in Midlothian VA on May 1-4

  • Must reside in the Mid-Atlantic region (MD DC VA WV) and be available to work onsite in Newport News VA and/or Midlothian VA on specified dates

Job Duties

  • Assist with event setup and breakdown including signage equipment and hospitality areas
  • Greet and direct players families and spectators during events
  • Support player check-in match logistics and distribution of event materials
  • Help maintain organized courts signage and hospitality areas
  • Provide event and venue information to players and guests
  • Ensure facility policies and tournament procedures are followed
  • Assist the Tournament Director and USTA staff with event operations and issue resolution
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for players volunteers and vendors
