The role of PCC Cooking Class Instructor is a seasonal position designed to instruct and inspire young attendees, specifically kids and teens participating in PCC's summer camp programs. The instructors are responsible for delivering engaging, educational cooking classes that adhere to a provided lesson plan and utilize PCC's quality ingredients and recipes. Starting from June 22nd through the end of August, instructors will create a fun, positive, and safe learning environment to foster cooking skills and enthusiasm for healthy eating among youth. This role requires excellent customer service skills as instructor interaction involves both external customers (camp students and their families) and internal collaborators including store teams and assistant staff. Cooking Class Instructors are expected to manage their classrooms efficiently, providing clear guidance and support to cooking camp assistants, ensuring classes run smoothly from setup to cleanup.

The job includes shopping for ingredients at PCC Community Markets, preparing classrooms for sessions, organizing materials and tools, and collaborating with team members to integrate seasonal marketing initiatives and promote the store’s products. The role is part customer service, part educator, and part culinary professional, offering a dynamic work experience in a fast-paced setting. Physical aspects of the job vary but primarily involve light work activities with occasional requirements for medium to heavy physical work during event support. The position offers a competitive hourly wage range of $30.00 to $35.00 and requires around 24 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday during the summer season. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for cooking, teaching, and working with youth in a supportive and cooperative retail setting. Job Requirements

  • Available to work Monday through Friday throughout the summer camp season
  • Available a minimum of 8 of 10 weeks during the summer camp season
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve in the moment especially under pressure
  • Ability to convey information in a fun and engaging way
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining positive customer service orientation
  • Experience working with kids and/or teens preferably in an educational setting
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to PCC locations

Job Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience as a cooking class instructor
  • Two years experience in a related culinary field such as restaurant cook, sous chef, private chef, catering, recipe developer, or nutritionist
  • Proven ability to convey information to groups in a fun and engaging way
  • Demonstrated multitasking and problem-solving skills especially under pressure
  • Experience working with kids and/or teens, preferably in an educational setting
  • Ability to maintain a positive customer service orientation in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to PCC locations
  • Culinary degree preferred
