Job Description
Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a leading distributor that has established itself as a pivotal player in the convenience retail industry. Backed by its parent company, a Fortune 150 entity, Core-Mark has built a stellar reputation through its commitment to empowering customers, employees, and communities alike. With a substantial revenue stream surpassing 23 billion dollars, the company operates an extensive network of distribution centers across the United States and Canada. These centers deliver a comprehensive range of products and tailored solutions designed to meet the diverse needs of convenience stores, ensuring a consistent supply chain and high-quality service experience. Core-Mark prides itself on fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and employee recognition, which reflects in its safe and supportive workplace environment.
This job opportunity is for a Seasonal/Temporary Delivery Driver role with an estimated duration of six months, potentially subject to change based on operational business requirements. The position offers competitive compensation at a pay rate of $30.50 per hour, with employees earning pay for each mile driven, stop made, and unloading performed. This role specifically involves night routes dispatched between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, offering the advantage of returning home daily. Delivery Drivers under this role are essential in supporting America's food distribution system by ensuring that food and food service products reach customers safely, on time, and in excellent condition. Beyond logistics, they act as the face of Core-Mark to customers, helping to build and sustain long-term relationships by providing professional and courteous service.
The core responsibilities of the Delivery Driver include operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks for both intrastate and interstate routes, including over-the-road and overnight dispatches. The role requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies to guarantee safety and compliance. Drivers are entrusted with conducting thorough pre- and post-trip safety inspections, reporting any maintenance needs or safety hazards, and ensuring freight is properly loaded and secured. Upon delivery, they are responsible for accurate documentation, including verifying orders, collecting payments when necessary, unloading products, and maintaining the cleanliness and security of vehicles and cargo. This position demands attention to detail, consistency in safety practices, and the physical capability to handle freight, often involving lifting items ranging from 10 to 90 pounds using manual handling equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates.
In summary, this role is crafted for dependable, safety-conscious individuals who thrive in a dynamic work environment and take pride in being a critical link in the food supply chain. Seasonal drivers have the potential for conversion to full-time roles depending on business needs, although this is not guaranteed. Core-Mark supports its workforce with an inclusive culture and various benefits from day one, including health and wellness options, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. This position is more than just a delivery job—it is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a company recognized for its operational excellence and commitment to equality and fair employment practices.
