This role is centered around delivering SMART customer service, which involves being proactive, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient at all times. Employees in this role will also take an active part in writing contracts and invoices for equipment rentals and tool repairs within the Tool Rental Department. The role demands a collaborative spirit as associates often cross-train in different store areas to provide comprehensive support and maintain excellent service standards.

Security vigilance is another important responsibility associated with this role, requiring employees to detect signs of shoplifting, theft, or other security risks promptly and report such incidents to management or Asset Protection. Maintaining safety and cleanliness standards across the store is essential, including participating in regular safety reviews and managing hazards to ensure a secure environment for both customers and colleagues.

The role further includes operating various store equipment relevant to specific departments, such as paint mixers, flooring cutters, panel saws, CCTV surveillance systems, key cutters, and computers. This blend of customer service, operational tasks, and adherence to safety protocols makes the position well-rounded and vital to the overall success of the store.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • less than 1 year experience using a computer including inputting, accessing, modifying or outputting information
  • less than 1 year experience using common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets
  • less than 1 year retail experience performing customer service and sales tasks
  • ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law
  • ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • physical ability to perform job tasks including lifting and operating equipment
  • willingness to adhere to safety standards and store policies

Job Qualifications

  • Less than 1 year experience using a computer including inputting, accessing, modifying or outputting information
  • less than 1 year experience using common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets
  • less than 1 year retail experience including tasks like identifying and selling products based on customer needs, explaining warranties, assisting customers, building relationships, resolving issues, zone recovery and housekeeping
  • ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law

Job Duties

  • Provide SMART customer service through daily execution of customer service policies, seek out customers to understand needs and assist with merchandise selection and loading, listen and respond to customer and associate questions including guiding through projects, demonstrate sincere appreciation to customers, communicate information about stock, special orders, product benefits, applications, and warranties, write customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, cross-functionally train in other store areas to enhance customer service, detect and report signs of shoplifting and security risks, maintain housekeeping standards and store cleanliness, ensure a safe and secure work environment including conducting safety reviews, adhere to safety requirements related to job duties, operate store equipment relevant to the role and department
