Job Description

The Boston Harbor Hotel, managed by HHM Hotels, is an iconic luxury hotel known for its exceptional hospitality and prime location overlooking the Boston Harbor. This prestigious establishment boasts exquisite dining experiences, elegant accommodations, and exceptional service standards that consistently deliver memorable guest experiences. We are currently seeking a dynamic, passionate Seasonal Bartender to join our team at the Rowes Wharf Sea Grille and Harbor Walk Terrace. This seasonal role runs from May through the end of October and is an excellent opportunity for hospitality professionals to contribute to an esteemed luxury environment. The Seasonal Bartender will play a crucial role in enhancing the guest experience by providing knowledgeable, prompt, and courteous beverage service at the bar. The successful candidate will possess thorough knowledge of wine, beer, and specialty cocktails and will have the creativity and inspiration to contribute to new cocktail menu offerings. They will also be responsible for providing detailed beverage descriptions to guests and anticipating their needs to ensure a seamless and elevated hospitality experience.

The role requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced luxury dining environment. Candidates for this position must have at least one year of experience in a similar role, preferably with exposure to food and beverage service in a luxury setting. The Seasonal Bartender must maintain the highest service standards, ensuring that the bar area is pristine, well-organized, and operating efficiently throughout their shift. Additional responsibilities include assisting with guest greetings to create an excellent first impression, adhering to safe alcohol service standards, executing proper cash handling procedures including tip reporting, and completing all necessary opening and closing side work.

This position demands flexibility for night and weekend shifts, with an emphasis on meeting and exceeding guest requests with professionalism and enthusiasm. Certification in TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) is preferred, underscoring the commitment to responsible alcohol service. Job Requirements

  • Must have at least one or more years of experience in a similar role
  • Flexible night and weekend availability
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs on a regular and continuous basis
  • Must maintain an organized and pristine work area
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace

Job Qualifications

  • Must have at least one or more years of experience in a similar role, with a combination of previous Food & Beverage experience in a luxury environment preferred
  • TIPS Certification preferred
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of wine, beer and specialty cocktails, as well as luxury core standards
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must possess basic computational ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • A second language is desirable

Job Duties

  • Assist with greeting guests, creating a good first impression for the guest experience
  • Completion of all opening and closing side work
  • Full knowledge and descriptions of all wines, liquors and beers in the restaurant, and be able to effectively make recommendations
  • Ability to make specialty cocktails, and add inspiration to new menus
  • Service of cocktails, wine and champagne in accordance with safe alcohol service standards
  • Serve guests of the bar area efficiently, and with complete knowledge of food and beverage menus
  • Receive Server orders, issue wines, mix drinks and keep proper control points
  • Meet and exceed all guest requests and expectations with a professional attitude
  • Ensure the bar is kept clean and in good order throughout the evening
  • Adhering to the proper cash handling procedure including tip reporting, due backs, and bank
  • Provide the highest service standards possible to all guests
  • Complete all closing procedures
