The open position is for a Seafood Team Leader, a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all daily operations within the seafood department at Whole Foods Market. As the Seafood Team Leader, you will be entrusted with managing a variety of key operational elements including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor management, and regulatory compliance. Your role will include ensuring the department meets its sales and purchasing targets while maintaining strict adherence to food safety regulations and company policies. You will also lead team activities by hiring, developing, coaching, and when necessary, conducting corrective actions or separations with team members. Providing excellent customer service is a core component of this role. This involves not only leading by example but also holding assistant team leaders, supervisors, and team members accountable for delivering exceptional service at all times.

In this leadership capacity, you will collaborate closely with store leadership and other departments to maintain a productive and respectful working environment. This includes building and sustaining positive vendor relationships and staying informed about industry trends and competitors. Strategic responsibilities involve projecting sales and expenses to prepare operating budgets that support the department’s financial goals. You will foster a team atmosphere marked by mutual respect and motivation, encouraging team members to perform at their best while minimizing turnover. The position requires strong communication skills to ensure the seafood department team is aligned with Whole Foods Market’s vision, goals, and core values. Additionally, you must ensure that safety and security standards are maintained unit-wide and provide timely performance evaluations to support team member growth. The role requires the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including handling the use of knives and other cutting equipment, working in wet and cold conditions, and performing lifting and standing for extended periods.

The position offers an hourly wage range of $22.40 to $40.40, commensurate with experience, reflecting the importance of this leadership role within the company.
