The role in focus is that of a Seafood Service Clerk based within the Seafood Department of one of Hy-Vee's stores. This position is hourly, non-exempt, and offers an anticipated hourly wage ranging from $16.50 to $20.60 depending on the applicant's experience. The Seafood Service Clerk plays an essential role in maintaining the quality and presentation of the store’s seafood offerings while providing outstanding customer service.

As a Seafood Service Clerk at Hy-Vee, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring customer satisfaction and department efficiency. These include wrapping, trimming, and stocking seafood products, carefully receiving incoming merchandise, and ensuring that all products meet Hy-Vee’s high standards for freshness and safety. You will also be expected to manage seafood displays by preparing items for presentation and replenishing coolers to maintain an eye-catching and well-stocked seafood department. This role requires a hands-on approach, with daily cleaning and sanitation duties to guarantee a neat and sanitary workspace.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • food safety training
  • six months previous related work experience
  • ability to see detail at near range with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision
  • physical ability to exert up to 85 pounds occasionally, 40 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly
  • ability to perform balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions

  • removes trash in a timely manner
  • maintains adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
  • adheres to company policies and store guidelines
  • reports to work on time and when scheduled
