The role being offered is a Team Leader position within Whole Foods Market's retail operations. This hourly position, offering a competitive wage range from $20.05 to $35.00 depending on experience, involves assisting the Team Leader in various facets of daily store operations that cover profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, staffing, compliance, and special projects. The Team Leader is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving sales, managing inventory, handling labor schedules, and ensuring regulatory compliance in the department. This position also plays a vital role in developing the store team members through training, coaching, and mentoring to build a motivated and high-performing team. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • 18+ months retail team member experience
  • 6+ months supervisory experience
  • ability to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to stand and walk 6-8 hours per day
  • ability to perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions
  • ability to work in cold and wet environments
  • ability to handle knives and cutting equipment
  • flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and heavy machinery like box cutters and electric pallet jacks

Job Qualifications

  • 18+ months retail team member experience
  • 6+ months of supervisory experience
  • proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance and managing inventory
  • excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills
  • capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner

Job Duties

  • Develops and maintains creative store layout and product merchandising

  • assists team leader with ordering and inventory management
  • works with Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues
  • functions as point person and departmental person in charge in absence of Team Leader

  • fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members
  • selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members
  • communicates and maintains Team Member safety and security standards
  • provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
