Job Description

Colorado State University (CSU) is renowned for its outstanding commitment to teaching, research, and community service. The Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering (WSCOE) is a dynamic academic hub within CSU, comprised of approximately 3,000 students across bachelor, master, and doctoral degree programs. The college is supported by over 140 faculty members and more than 400 staff and research scientists. It provides a collaborative environment where innovation, leadership, and academic excellence are prioritized. The Scott Scholars Program, housed within WSCOE, is a distinguished leadership and enrichment initiative designed to develop well-rounded engineering students equipped to tackle global challenges, pursue their passions with purpose, generate meaningful societal impacts, and empower others to contribute to society's advancement.

The Scott Scholars Event & Program Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering a sense of community and belonging among Scott Scholars, helping ensure their academic success and retention. This full-time, 12-month administrative professional role reports directly to the Scott Scholars Program Executive Director and requires occasional evening, weekend work and periodic travel for both local and national events. The coordinator will be responsible for the complete management lifecycle of all Scott Scholars events, overseeing planning, execution, and evaluation to align with program goals. Additionally, the role involves critical coordination of the Scott Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program, supporting over 100 students with research and enrichment opportunities.

The position demands strategic planning and leadership for recruitment events aimed at increasing program yield and retaining admitted students. The coordinator is expected to maintain strong communication channels with Scott Scholars, CSU leadership offices, industry partners, and the Suzanne & Walter Scott Foundation to uphold and enhance the program’s reputation and outreach. Aside from event coordination, the role requires ongoing student engagement and mentoring, helping scholars in achieving their academic, personal, and professional goals. This position also carries fiscal responsibility for event and program budgets, emphasizing accuracy and attention to detail.

By joining CSU's Scott Scholars Program team, the coordinator will contribute to an inspiring academic community with a clear mission of developing future leaders in engineering. The role offers opportunities to engage deeply with students, faculty, campus partners, and external stakeholders while promoting the core values of leadership, community impact, and academic excellence. In this capacity, the coordinator will influence the nurturing environment that sets Scott Scholars apart as innovators and responsible global citizens. The position’s salary ranges from $63,000 to $70,000 annually, reflecting its professional nature and importance within the college. If you are passionate about event management, student development, and program coordination within a higher education setting, this role offers a rewarding career path where you can make a substantial difference.
