The role of Scientist at Pace offers a unique opportunity to contribute hands-on to environmental testing and research. This position involves working in a dynamic laboratory environment where you will analyze air, water, and soil samples using established chemistry and biochemistry techniques. As a Scientist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of environmental data that serves communities and ecosystems. The job also includes maintaining and calibrating laboratory instruments, documenting procedures and results meticulously, and supporting the overall laboratory operations. This full-time position offers a schedule from Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a starting wage of $19.00 per hour. Job Requirements
- bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related STEM field or equivalent experience
- ability to work extended periods standing in a laboratory and comply with safety protocols
- willingness to wear personal protective equipment including lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves
- availability to work Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- strong commitment to accuracy and quality in scientific work
Job Qualifications
- bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or other STEM related degrees or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment including standing for extended periods, working around strong odors, and wearing required personal protective equipment
- strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- effective communication and teamwork abilities
Job Duties
- perform, support, and oversee analysis of air, water, and soil samples using established chemistry and biochemistry methods
- clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment
- accurately document procedures, observations, and results to maintain high-quality, organized laboratory records
