Job Description
This position is available within a school district's Child Nutrition Services department, a dedicated unit responsible for ensuring the provision of nutritious meals to students. Child Nutrition Services plays a vital role in supporting student health and academic performance by providing high-quality, balanced meals compliant with district regulations and nutritional standards. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- one year of relevant experience in cooking and food service
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to follow district policies and nutrition program guidelines
- strong organizational skills
- ability to supervise and train staff
- familiarity with HACCP standards
- good communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to handle physical demands of the job
Job Qualifications
- Must meet all minimum qualifications for Assistant, Satellite Lead, and Production Coordinator
- one year experience in cooking, baking and serving high-quality nutrition meals
- ability to comply with school District policies, procedures and requirements of Child Nutrition Services programs
- experience in keeping accurate, detailed records and required reports
- ability to meet established timelines
Job Duties
- Direct and participate in preparing and serving high quality and nutritious, cost effective meals and ala carte items following district standards
- order and receive food and supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels following Child Nutrition Services and district procedures
- inspect food on delivery for weight, condition, accuracy of order, and report discrepancies and quality issues
- keep all food at safe temperature under sanitary conditions following Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point standards
- develop and provide daily work schedules for staff to insure completion of tasks within allocated time
- follow and insure staff follows Child Nutrition Services guidelines for proper use and storage of food and supplies
- maintain a complete file of available standardized recipes and instruct staff in the use and conversion of these recipes
- train staff in the proper use and care of equipment as well as safety procedures, monitor equipment use and operation, determine and request repairs
- follow Child Nutrition Services guidelines for calculating daily meal cost and adjust to meet the standards
- maintain accurate records, prepare necessary reports including count cash, menu planners, payroll, and special programs
- investigate and report accidents promptly
- check and secure kitchen and dining area at end of shift
- establish and maintain cooperative working relations
- supervise, direct and train assigned staff
- conduct performance evaluations and recommend substitutes
- respond to suggestions, complaints, and requests
- promote Child Nutrition Services program to increase meal participation
- assist school staff in promoting good nutrition
- perform other duties as assigned
