The Child Nutrition Services Department within the school district focuses on providing nutritious, high-quality meals to students in a safe and sanitary environment. Operated under the supervision of the Child Nutrition Services Director or their designee, the department plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all meals served within its Bulk Satellite kitchens meet established nutritional standards and district guidelines. This not only enhances student well-being and learning readiness but also supports the broader goals of public health and community wellness. The department is committed to excellence in food preparation, safety, and service, creating an environment where students and staff can trust that their nutritional needs are met efficiently and responsibly.

The Bulk Satellite Kitchen Technician position is a critical role within this program, charged with the heating and serving of meals that are both appealing and healthy. This position requires careful adherence to food safety protocols and the ability to manage the flow of kitchen operations in alignment with district meal plans. Responsibilities span from ensuring the nutritional quality and proper handling of meals to supervising staff and student helpers. The role demands excellent organizational skills to maintain schedules, oversee inventory, and manage detailed records such as meal counts, delivery logs, and payroll information either manually or through computerized systems.

A successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of food preparation techniques, sanitation practices, and safety standards while exercising initiative and teamwork to promote Child Nutrition Services effectively. The Bulk Satellite Kitchen Technician also serves as a liaison between the kitchen and school staff, addressing feedback and enhancing the overall meal experience. Operational duties include maintaining kitchen cleanliness, managing stock levels, ordering meals, and handling any equipment maintenance or malfunctions, ensuring a productive and safe working environment.

This role requires standing and walking for extended periods, the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and physical capabilities such as stooping, reaching, and manual dexterity. Candidates should be prepared to work under changing priorities with flexibility and problem-solving skills, communicating effectively with students and adults even in challenging scenarios. Vision requirements include normal far vision, depth perception, and color vision. Exposure to cleaning chemicals is also possible.

Overall, the Bulk Satellite Kitchen Technician position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the nutritional health of students while developing valuable skills in food service management and team leadership within an educational setting. This role is ideally suited for individuals who are passionate about food safety, quality nutrition, and collaborative work environments.
