Job Description
Legacy Traditional Schools is a distinguished network of public charter schools committed to delivering top-tier education and fostering a nurturing learning environment where students thrive academically and personally. The organization places a strong emphasis on traditional values, high expectations, and a well-rounded educational experience that nurtures the whole child — mind, heart, and character. Legacy Traditional Schools has built a reputation for excellence through award-winning results and a dedicated focus on cultivating bright, curious minds who are prepared for future success. The school system actively engages with students, parents, and communities while upholding its core values and promoting a positive, collaborative school spirit.
This particular position within Legacy Traditional Schools is a multifaceted role based at a campus identified as having the highest need, and it offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about contributing directly to an educational community through food service management. The role is a full-time, 10-month or year-round employment position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week, with daily work hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break. The appointed individual will be integral in supporting and overseeing the daily food service activities to ensure a productive, hygienic, and customer-focused cafeteria environment.
The position is responsible for providing personal support to the campus in various capacities including food service worker, cook, cashier, and manager, demonstrating flexibility to adjust day-to-day duties as needed. The successful candidate will coordinate and direct the campus Food Service Team, maintaining food quality standards, managing inventory levels, ensuring strict compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines, and consistently delivering excellent customer service to students, staff, and parents.
One of the core functions of this role is to assist and sometimes lead in preparing, cooking, serving, and replenishing food, while also participating in food safety monitoring such as verifying compliance with HACCP procedures, including temperature controls and sanitation logs. The role demands the ability to perform routine tasks like panning frozen food, chopping salad items, baking, and handling kitchen equipment efficiently and safely.
Moreover, this position encompasses managerial responsibilities such as training and supervising Food Service Workers, verifying inventory, ordering supplies appropriately to maintain optimal stock, operating the cash register/point of sale systems, managing financial controls, and handling deposits according to policy. The manager will also be responsible for organizing the stockroom and cold storage areas, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with health standards through periodic deep cleanings, and maintaining cooperative relationships with school administration and other stakeholders.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, possess a Food Handler’s Certificate/Card, and have Manager Certification if applicable. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of four years of food handling or cashiering experience along with two years of lead or supervisory experience. The role also requires individuals to be self-motivated, flexible, communicative, and customer-service oriented, capable of coaching staff, managing multiple responsibilities, and maintaining a professional appearance as per the employee handbook.
Legacy Traditional Schools offers an enriching career path that values learning, dedication, and fun, with numerous benefits including competitive pay, rewards, referral bonuses, paid time-off, and comprehensive health benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage. Employees receive support for their families with discounted onsite childcare and student enrollment priority, long-range retirement plans, and opportunities for professional growth through training, mentoring, and tuition reimbursement. Joining Legacy Traditional Schools means becoming part of a community that ignites passion and excellence in every team member while making a meaningful impact on the lives of students and families.
