By the 2026-27 school year, CAM will offer education from Kindergarten through 8th grade, catering to a growing and vibrant student body. The school prides itself on delivering a "non-traditional" educational experience that emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.). This comprehensive S.T.E.A.M. focused curriculum aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become leaders in an increasingly globalized and interconnected world. CAM is committed to fostering a positive learning environment where students are inspired to grow both academically and personally.
The mission of Covenant Academy of Mobile is centered on creating and maintaining a learning environment that promotes relevance, engagement, and character development. The school empowers students to acquire essential skill sets and fosters a passion for lifelong learning. These efforts are supported by a dedicated team of teachers, administrators, parents, and mentors who collaborate to challenge and motivate students. CAM prepares its students to be productive, caring contributors who can navigate and succeed in a constantly evolving global landscape.
The School Kitchen Cook position at Covenant Academy of Mobile plays a vital role in supporting this mission by providing nutritious and appealing meals to approximately 500 students across Kindergarten through 8th grade. This full-time role offers an annual salary range of $18,835 to $27,122, which is competitive and above the Alabama State Department of Education’s salary matrix, with exact compensation dependent on educational background, licensure, and experience. In addition to salary, the position includes a comprehensive benefits package that features health, dental, and vision insurance alongside paid time off and retirement benefits. Notably, employees currently enrolled in the Teachers’ Retirement System of Alabama can transfer their benefits seamlessly to CAM, along with any accumulated sick leave.
Reporting directly to the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Manager/Director, the School Kitchen Cook assists in food preparation and serving while maintaining high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene. This position requires a proactive team player who supports the school's mission and vision, demonstrates reliability, and fosters a positive work atmosphere. Candidates should be open to coaching, able to work collaboratively, and exhibit qualities such as loyalty, cheerfulness, and a strong work ethic. Regular and punctual attendance is essential, as is the ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with colleagues.
This role involves a range of kitchen-related tasks, including assisting in meal preparation for students and staff, serving food, cleaning kitchen and dining areas, and managing trash and garbage collection areas to ensure sanitary conditions. The position is contracted for 10 months annually, with evaluations conducted according to board policies and administrative procedures. Prospective employees must successfully complete a background clearance check through Gemalto Systems before commencing employment. This position is based in Mobile, Alabama, and requires in-person attendance. Overall, the School Kitchen Cook position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the health and well-being of students in a dynamic and forward-thinking educational community.
