Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to carry, push, stoop, reach and perform fingering functions
  • Experience working in a kitchen or food preparation environment preferred
  • Ability to handle repetitive tasks
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and listening skills
  • Normal far vision, depth perception and color vision

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking or baking experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and menu planners
  • Basic math skills for managing inventory and meal accounting
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve attractive, high quality, nutritious, cost effective meals following standardized procedures
  • Assist in the cleaning of kitchen, equipment, tables and storeroom as scheduled
  • Report equipment malfunctions to ensure safe working conditions
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate food and supply inventories
  • Direct or assist unit employees in meal preparation tasks as necessary
  • Maintain required daily records and reports and submit to Kitchen Manager
  • Collect money and account for meals served according to established procedures
