The position involves a standard work calendar of 260 days per year, along with 10 paid holidays, emphasizing the district’s commitment to employee work-life balance.

The custodian’s primary responsibility is to clean and maintain district buildings and grounds, using established procedures that promote a high standard of safety and efficiency. This includes operating various cleaning and maintenance equipment such as buffers, vacuum cleaners, electric drills, lawn mowers, and weed eaters, making the role physically demanding but essential. A custodian is expected to ensure the cleanliness of floors, restrooms, windows, furniture, and other surfaces, as well as the upkeep of outdoor areas such as parking lots, sidewalks, and playgrounds.

In addition to cleaning, the custodian is tasked with performing minor repairs and preventive maintenance. This ensures that heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems function correctly and that minor building repairs are completed or reported to the principal when necessary. The role also requires setting up lunchrooms and special event facilities, highlighting the custodian's collaborative role in supporting school activities.

Safety is paramount in this role. The custodian will be responsible for opening and closing duties, ensuring exit doors and panic hardware operate correctly, inspecting equipment for safety and efficiency, and following district protocols for emergency procedures. The candidate must adhere to safety standards when handling cleaning chemicals, operating tools, and performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy equipment—often over 45 pounds. The work environment is highly dynamic, requiring frequent movement, climbing, standing, bending, and exposure to various environmental factors including dust, toxic materials, and extreme weather conditions.

This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $12.50 to $17.98, depending on experience and qualifications.
