This opportunity is for the role of a School Custodian within educational environments such as K-12 schools, colleges, or university campuses. The School Custodian position is designed for individuals looking to enter or return to the workforce with limited prior experience or education. ABM provides on-the-job training to equip custodians with the necessary skills to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The custodian plays a vital role in the operational upkeep of educational facilities by performing general cleaning and maintenance tasks in designated areas which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairwells.

The responsibilities of the School Custodian include sweeping, mopping, and removing debris to maintain spotless floors; cleaning and dusting furniture, fixtures, and hard surfaces; managing trash and recycling disposal properly; caring for restrooms and other high-use areas with regular cleaning and polishing; and supporting seasonal outdoor tasks like snow removal and leaf raking. Custodians must follow established safety and cleaning protocols especially when using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to facilities. Beyond cleaning, custodians are expected to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to report maintenance needs or concerns promptly.
