The company's commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability makes it a leader in its field, dedicated to enhancing the spaces and places that matter most.
The role of School Custodian at ABM is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking employment in educational environments such as K-12 schools, colleges, or university campuses. This position involves performing general cleaning and maintenance duties in various assigned areas including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways. As a School Custodian, you will be responsible for keeping these spaces safe, clean, and orderly to support a positive and productive educational setting.
This role is particularly suitable for individuals who are new to the workforce or those returning with limited experience and education. ABM provides on-the-job training to ensure all team members are well-prepared to execute their duties effectively. Being a military-friendly employer, ABM encourages veterans and candidates with military experience to apply, offering a welcoming environment that values the skills and discipline developed in prior service.
Responsibilities extend beyond routine cleaning and include tasks such as sweeping, removing debris, cleaning spills, mopping floors, emptying trash receptacles, and complying with safety and quality standards. The School Custodian will also use chemical cleaners and power equipment properly to avoid damage to floors and fixtures, report repair needs, and help maintain the overall upkeep of the facility. Additional duties may include seasonal outdoor maintenance such as sweeping walks, raking leaves, cutting grass, and snow removal.
Effective communication and teamwork are crucial, as custodians interact regularly with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and managers. The role also requires attention to environmental sustainability by properly sorting and disposing of recycling materials.
