The position being offered is a vital role within the school’s food service department responsible for preparing and serving food according to planned menus. This role supports the nutritional needs of students and staff by ensuring food quality, safety, and service standards are consistently met. The Food Service Worker will be involved in food preparation activities using tested, uniform recipes, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and assisting with inventory management. Key duties include preparing and cooking foods, replenishing food supplies, cleaning cafeteria and kitchen areas, and preparing the cafeteria environment for meals. The role requires adherence to food safety regulations, including holding a valid Food Handlers card, and ensuring all food served is of the best quality in both flavor and appearance.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid Food Handlers card
- Six months of food handling service or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to perform physical tasks including stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to handle repetitive motions such as finger dexterity and grasping
- Pass a criminal history background check
- For Nevada employees, pass NV Fingerprint Background Check
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Food Handlers card
- Six months of food handling service or equivalent education and experience
- Knowledge of customer service principles
- Basic mathematical concepts
- Familiarity with applicable cooking and food prep equipment
- Understanding of basic inventory principles
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures
- Skills in prepping and cooking food
- Ability to operate relevant kitchen equipment
- Competence in monitoring inventory
- Ability to read and follow recipe directions
- Skills in maintaining order among school age children
- Experience in handling and counting money
- Proficiency in cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas and machinery
- Ability to read food thermometers
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Assist in preparing and cooking foods such as panning frozen food, cupping fruit, washing and bagging fruits and vegetables, baking foods, chopping salad items, monitoring food temperatures, preparing sandwiches, and removing hot items from ovens
- Serve and replenish food supply
- Clean cafeteria and kitchen areas, including wiping down tables, placing trays in proper locations, picking up trash, sweeping and mopping floors, loading dishwashers, cleaning refrigerators and ovens, and sanitizing towels
- Prepare the cafeteria for meals, including placing food in hot carts, rotating foods, preparing and monitoring the availability of utensils and napkins, preparing trays, and placing scoops or spoons for serving
- Assist with monitoring food inventory and perform counts of unused food following daily meal service
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level
