Job Description
Genuine Foods is a dynamic social enterprise dedicated to creating nourishing food environments primarily in schools and workplaces. With a strong commitment to health, productivity, and happiness, Genuine Foods stands out as a food service management company that not only focuses on delivering great-tasting and wholesome meals but also emphasizes genuine, scratch-made food crafted from real ingredients. The company's mission extends beyond just food preparation; it aims to build lasting communities and transform lives through its unparalleled service and meaningful enrichment programs. Genuine Foods is recognized for its integrity, personal accountability, and human-centered approach, fostering a culture that values teamwork, empathy, hospitality, and adaptability. The organization promotes financial stewardship while never compromising on quality, ensuring delivery excellence in every aspect of its operations.
The company is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook to join its team, with the role situated within a school environment. This full-time position is scheduled Monday through Friday and is tailored for individuals interested in both culinary growth and positively impacting student health and happiness. The Cook’s responsibilities revolve around preparing and serving food in strict accordance with daily menus and recipe standards set by the Chef and Genuine Foods protocols. Beyond the day-to-day cooking tasks, this role provides opportunities for learning new culinary skills and advancing one’s career in food service. Genuine Foods fosters a supportive and respectful work environment where each team member is valued.
Ideal candidates for this role will enjoy interacting with students and educators and display a superior customer service orientation. The job requires adherence to food safety standards at all times, precise food preparation based on specific recipes, and close coordination with team members to ensure timely service. Maintaining cleanliness, organizing the working area, and assisting with additional cleaning duties ensure the kitchen environment remains orderly and in compliance with health standards. Candidates should be flexible, team-oriented, punctual, and physically able to perform kitchen duties, including climbing stairs and lifting up to 50 lbs. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn USDA National School Lunch Program compliance requirements are essential. Above all, candidates must resonate with Genuine Foods’ mission to use food as a tool to enhance students’ minds, bodies, and overall well-being within a supportive school environment.
This position offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, holiday pay, and medical, dental, and vision benefits. Recognizing the importance of career growth, Genuine Foods encourages continuous development and skill enhancement for all its team members. The organization’s core values—trustworthiness, personal accountability, people first, and entrepreneurial spirit—are deeply embedded in the workplace culture, ensuring that employees are not only motivated but also empowered to excel in their roles. Joining Genuine Foods means being part of a community that prioritizes quality, integrity, and a collaborative spirit, making a meaningful difference every day through the power of food.
