Job Description

The Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County is a reputable nonprofit organization committed to providing a safe, educational, and supportive environment for children and youth in the community. This organization focuses on fostering the development and well-being of young people through a variety of programs and services that encourage academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good citizenship. With a strong presence in the region, the Club is dedicated to ensuring that all members have access to enriching opportunities that promote growth and development both inside and outside the classroom. Their facilities are staffed by professionals who are passionate about youth development and are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of the children they serve.

The role available is primarily focused on the safe and reliable transportation of registered youth members to and from school, field trips, and special events using the organization's Youth Bus or School Bus. This position involves not only driving but also maintaining the vehicle to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met in accordance with California Highway Patrol (CHP) regulations. The bus driver acts as a positive role model for young people, maintains discipline during transit, and collaborates closely with the Transportation Coordinator and Clubhouse Director to support the overall goals of the organization. It offers a unique mix of responsibilities that emphasize safety, professionalism, and active engagement with children and the community.

This part-time position, with expected hours ranging from 20 to 25 per week, includes valuable benefits such as free childcare for qualifying employee children and employee discounts. The role requires someone with a valid California Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or Class B license with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements, along with the ability to hold First Aid and CPR certifications. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to youth safety and welfare are critical for success in this role. Candidates should be capable of inspecting vehicles regularly, maintaining accurate reporting, and implementing all policies related to transportation and field trip chaperoning.

Employees in this role contribute directly to creating a nurturing and secure environment for more than just transportation; they help foster relationships and experiences that shape the youth's lives. This job is ideal for experienced drivers who enjoy working with children and those who want to take an active role in community service while fulfilling a vital operational function within a respected nonprofit organization.
