Job Description
Zum is a pioneering company transforming student transportation across the United States. As the nation’s largest mass transit system for students, Zum offers a cutting-edge, integrated cloud-based platform designed specifically to cater to the needs of school districts, students, and their families. The company uniquely combines technology and transportation to ensure that children are transported safely, efficiently, and comfortably. Zum’s service connects parents, drivers, schools, districts, administrators, and operators through a seamless real-time interface, offering unprecedented visibility and personalized care throughout the entire journey.
Zum’s approach goes beyond traditional school bus systems by leveraging a multi-sized vehicle fleet that emphasizes sustainability through an electric vehicle-first commitment. This modernized fleet not only reduces student commute times by up to 20% but enhances overall fleet efficiency and optimal routing by integrating an advanced marketplace system. This allows the company to provide reliable transportation while maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.
The role of a bus attendant at Zum is integral to the company’s mission of delivering safe and positive school transportation experiences. As a bus attendant, you will take on the essential responsibility of supervising and assisting students during their transportation to and from school. Your presence helps create a secure environment that supports both the physical safety and behavioral management of the children aboard. This role requires patience, attentiveness, and the ability to handle diverse student needs, including those of children with special needs or disabilities.
In this part-time position, you will work alongside the bus driver, enabling them to focus on the safe operation of the vehicle by managing student behavior and handling various student-related logistics. Your duties will include assisting students as they board and exit the bus, ensuring every child is safely secured with appropriate restraints, and closely monitoring the bus environment for safety concerns. You will be responsible for supporting emergency procedures, such as evacuations and safety drills, and collaborating with school administrators and parents to report any behavioral issues or safety incidents.
Working as a Zum bus attendant also involves supporting students with disabilities by operating wheelchair lifts and securing wheelchairs properly. In emergency situations, your ability to provide first aid and manage medical concerns is vital. Your role extends to fostering a positive atmosphere on the bus by engaging students in suitable activities during transit.
Moreover, you will aid vehicle maintenance routines by assisting with pre- and post-trip inspections, ensuring that the vehicle meets all safety standards before and after each journey. Maintaining a clean, orderly, and welcoming bus environment helps uphold Zum’s reputation as a safe and professional transportation provider.
Zum offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.87 to $20.50 and expects attendance around 20 hours per week, ideal for individuals seeking part-time employment. The company also provides valuable benefits, including 401(k) plans, dental insurance, and health insurance, supporting employee well-being and future financial security.
Zum is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, genetics, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected characteristic. This respectful work environment reinforces Zum’s dedication not only to student safety but also to the professional growth and fair treatment of its employees.
If you are passionate about contributing to the safety and well-being of students and want to be part of an innovative company revolutionizing school transportation, the position of bus attendant at Zum offers a meaningful and rewarding opportunity.
