Job Description
Buehler's Fresh Foods is an employee-owned chain consisting of 13 grocery stores located throughout northeast Ohio. The position available is for a Scenic River Barista located within the Medina Hospital coffee shop, operated by Buehler's Fresh Foods. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic food-service setting focused on preparing and serving specialty coffee and beverage items. The Barista will work closely alongside the Lead Barista, Food Service Manager, and other team members to deliver exceptional customer experiences. The primary responsibility of the Barista is to prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages including coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, and teas following established food production procedures and quality standards. Attention to detail, adherence to rigorous sanitation and hygiene standards, and food safety are paramount in this role.
A typical day involves organizing and preparing beverage orders accurately and efficiently while managing supplies and maintaining cleanliness in the work area. The Barista is also responsible for checking equipment function, food storage, and communicating menu options to customers, ensuring they have a positive and customized experience. Accuracy in order processing and the ability to operate point-of-sale systems are also essential to this role.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate characteristics such as being people-minded, customer-oriented, product-minded, stable under pressure, detail-focused, and open-minded. Flexibility in scheduling, including availability on weekends and holidays, is crucial due to fluctuating customer demand in a hospital setting. Although prior Barista experience is a plus, Buehler's Fresh Foods is enthusiastic about training motivated individuals who are eager to learn and grow with the team. This role requires candidates to be at least 16 years of age and able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Job Requirements
- At least 16 years old
- Able to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb
- Able to perform repetitive lifting up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and good auditory and visual skills
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
- Ability to perform simple math problems
- Able to work in a deli/kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, fire and noise
- Flexible to work weekends and holidays
- Dependable and reliable
- Able to maintain composure under stress
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous coffee barista experience is a plus but not required
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and procedures accurately
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Comfortable operating point-of-sale systems
- Basic math skills to handle cash and transactions
Job Duties
- Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas
- Set-up, organize, and prepare beverages using established production procedures and systems
- Comply with sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards, and housekeeping to keep the work area clean
- Observe proper food handling techniques while serving prepared foods
- Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Follow daily cleaning procedures of all equipment to maintain good working order
- Store food properly and safely, mark the date and item
- Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them
- Order, receive, and stock supplies or retail products
- Receive and process customer payments
