Job Description
Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is a private, nonprofit, accredited university that offers degree programs in more than 40 areas of study in the arts, design, and related disciplines. Located in Savannah, Georgia, with locations around the world, SCAD is recognized for its rigorous academic programs, talented faculty, and commitment to preparing students for professional success. The institution fosters a dynamic and diverse student community, encouraging innovation, creativity, and inclusion. SCAD offers a comprehensive student services department that supports the academic and personal development of its student body. These services are crucial in ensuring that students have access to resources, guidance, and assistance necessary to navigate their university experience with confidence and success.
As a SCADhome concierge specialist, you will play a vital role within the Student Services team of SCADhome, the dedicated housing and residential life hub for SCAD students. This part-time staff position is centered on providing exceptional support to students by effectively managing routine correspondence and facilitating communication between the department and its constituents. Your responsibilities will include reading, responding to, and routing daily incoming emails directed to the SCADhome help desk, as well as composing and typing messages as needed. You will organize and maintain the file system, ensuring that all correspondence and records are accurately filed and easily accessible. Additionally, you will be the main point of contact for a dedicated phone line, answering inquiries promptly and professionally.
In this role, your communication skills will be key as you liaise with students to provide department referrals, relevant contact information, and assistance with scheduling appointments. You will serve as a reliable source of information about navigating SCADhome services. Proactive outreach is a significant aspect of this position: informing students about upcoming events and activities, reminding them of important dates, and offering suggestions aimed at helping them succeed in their residential life experience. Your work schedule may require flexibility, including availability for extended office hours during peak periods such as move-in and move-out days, sometimes including weekends and evenings.
The ideal candidate for the SCADhome concierge specialist role will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service abilities, and organizational talents. You must demonstrate discipline, honesty, and integrity in handling confidential information and managing multiple priorities. This position demands self-motivation and the ability to perform a variety of administrative duties, supporting departmental operations efficiently. Working both independently and collaboratively within the team, you will contribute to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students. This role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and timely completion of assigned tasks to ensure smooth operational processes within the SCADhome department.
