The role of SCA Senior Cook (Conformance) at Sodexo, based at USMC Garrison-West (Camp Pendleton), offers a full-time opportunity with a competitive wage of $27.64 per hour. This position plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality meal services across multiple meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. As a Senior Cook, you will not only prepare and present nutritious dishes but also lead and supervise Service Contract Act (SCA) Cook II personnel, promoting efficiency and teamwork in the kitchen.

This role demands a strong commitment to food safety, quality standards, and customer satisfaction, as well as a proactive approach to minimizing food waste. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate food preparation, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and adapting to varying shifts with a preference for open availability. Your leadership skills will be integral in directing staff, allocating resources effectively, and upholding the highest standards of service and conformance.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum four years of relevant cooking experience
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a food service environment
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain schedule
  • Open availability preferred for varying shifts
  • Commitment to workplace safety and food quality standards
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical kitchen tasks

Job Qualifications

  • Four or more years of related cooking experience
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise kitchen staff
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to prepare diverse menu items for various meal periods
  • Team-oriented and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items accurately and efficiently
  • Supervise Service Contract Act (SCA) Cook II employees and possibly other lower-level staff
  • Attend work and start scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Minimize food waste through efficient preparation and portioning
  • Adapt to varying shifts and accommodate client needs and special events
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business and client requirements
