Job Description
Heritage Companies is a distinguished hospitality group deeply rooted in the culture, spirit, and traditions of New Mexico. With a robust portfolio that spans various restaurants, hotels, and venues across the state, Heritage Companies is committed to providing an exceptional work environment centered around the overall employee experience. This commitment extends to offering unique perks that only the company can provide, such as opportunities for career growth, generous discounts on hotel room rates, spa services, and food across all their restaurants. By embracing the rich cultural heritage of New Mexico, Heritage Companies fosters a workplace where employees can thrive professionally while enjoying the vibrant local community and its traditions.
This particular role is a part-time hourly position based in Albuquerque, NM, specifically operating out of the Sawmill Market. The Sawmill Market houses five different kitchens, offering an exciting and dynamic work environment where team members engage in diverse culinary experiences. Hourly wages range from $17.00 to $21.00, depending on experience, and part-time employees also receive benefits including dental, vision, and 401k. Full-time employees are eligible for additional benefits, such as medical coverage, life insurance, short-term disability, accident and critical illness coverage, further enhancing the overall compensation package.
The role involves working in one of the kitchens within the Sawmill Market—specifically Mercantile Cafe, Flora Taco, Fish n' Chips, or Red and Green New Mexican Food. Under the guidance of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef, team members collaborate closely with kitchen leadership to stay aligned on job assignments and timelines. A positive and professional approach towards coworkers and guests is essential to maintaining the company’s high standards of service and quality.
The position requires great attention to food safety, nutrition, and sanitation regulations, ensuring compliance with safety standards at all times. Team members are responsible for setting up, breaking down, and stocking their stations with all necessary supplies, facilitating smooth and efficient operations. The role encompasses preparing food for service, which includes tasks such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and preparing sauces, all integral to delivering quality dishes. Cooking menu items in collaboration with fellow kitchen staff is a vital part of everyday responsibilities, emphasizing teamwork and coordination to ensure that food items are prepared simultaneously, presented with high quality, and served in a timely fashion.
Flexibility is also a key aspect of the job, as team members may be assigned other duties consistent with the position's functions as needed to support overall kitchen operations. This position not only offers a chance to work within a vibrant culinary community but also provides a pathway for growth and development within the Heritage Companies portfolio. The employer prides itself on being an NM Safe Certified Business, dedicated to inspiring local communities and celebrating local artisans through its operations. Moreover, Heritage Restaurant Group stands as an equal opportunity employer, emphasizing inclusive hiring practices that value diversity and respect for all employees.
