The role of the sanitation associate is vital to the smooth operation of the store. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the store from front entrance walkways to the inside public areas and restrooms. Duties include cleaning and maintaining the exterior entrance and sidewalks to ensure a positive visual impact and safe access for customers. In addition, practicing safe food handling procedures is critical, as the associate will contribute to minimizing contamination risks and promoting public health. Furthermore, the role requires operating cleaning equipment to uphold floor conditions and sanitation standards throughout the store, including handling minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and managing cleaning supplies. A strong emphasis is placed on compliance with safety awareness, proper use of sanitizers and cleaning agents, and performing physical tasks such as shoveling snow or spreading ice melt when conditions demand. Communication skills are essential for the individual to work effectively alongside store associates and support customer interactions respectfully and professionally.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate an ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful retail environment, managing conflicts reasonably and fostering positive interactions with diverse populations including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. This is a physically active role requiring the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
