The Sanitation Technician role at Makers Pride is a vital position within their Food Safety Team. This role focuses on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the production facility to ensure food safety compliance. The job requires working with a variety of production equipment and performing manual tasks such as disassembling and reassembling machinery, operating cleaning equipment, and sanitizing production lines and other facility areas. Physical endurance and the ability to work from heights using ladders or scissor lifts are essential traits for this role. Additionally, the Sanitation Technician must be adaptable, ready to work a flexible schedule with mandatory overtime when needed, including the 3rd shift from 9:45 pm to 6:15 am.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to lift 50 to 100 lbs with assistance
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 90% of the time
  • Ability to climb stairs and work at heights without disorientation
  • Ability to work in hot, wet, and/or tight spaces
  • Ability to crawl and work on knees and ladders
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be a self-starter

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
  • At least six months experience in a sanitation production environment preferred
  • Basic math skills to calculate and measure cleansers and sanitizers
  • Sufficient English reading and writing skills to understand equipment instructions, standard operating procedures, and documentation
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize work schedules
  • Ability to understand and follow safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to learn new tasks and methods of working

Job Duties

  • Disassemble and reassemble critical equipment and pumps
  • Understand equipment instructions, manuals, specifications, and safety requirements
  • Read instruments and record all required data
  • Maintain cleanliness of all work areas
  • Remove trash and debris
  • Follow established procedures in the cleaning and sanitation of idle production equipment
  • Wet wash rooms and production lines
  • Complete required reporting to reflect activity
  • Advise supervisor when supplies need to be ordered
  • Clean and sanitize mixing room, production areas, packaging areas, walls and ceilings, all equipment including elevated conveyors, and exterior plant areas as needed
  • Perform food safety and quality testing including titration levels, APC swabs, allergen testing, and LRN swabs
  • Safely operate COP tub, floor scrubber, pallet jacks, boom lift, and scissor lift after training
