Job Description
Whole Foods Market is a leading supermarket chain known for its commitment to natural and organic products. Founded in 1980, Whole Foods Market has grown into a globally recognized brand that prioritizes sustainability, quality food, and community well-being. As a prominent retailer in the grocery sector, the company operates numerous stores across the United States and internationally, offering a wide variety of fresh, wholesome foods while championing environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
The company’s mission goes beyond simply selling groceries; it aims to nourish people and the planet by improving the ways individuals eat, supporting local and global communities, and driving positive change through initiatives such as funding school garden grants and improving access to healthy food in underserved areas. Whole Foods Market is dedicated to alleviating hunger and poverty while promoting wellness and sustainability. Employee roles within the company reflect these values, offering a unique opportunity for personal growth and meaningful contribution.
The Maintenance Associate position at Whole Foods Market plays a crucial role in upholding the store’s standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational excellence. This role involves performing general maintenance duties across the store, including cleaning floors, seating areas, restrooms, and back-office spaces. In addition to maintaining a clean environment, the Maintenance Associate conducts minor repairs and improvements, manages cleaning emergencies, and supports the upkeep of the store's landscaping and parking lot areas. Employees in this position are responsible for following all company operating procedures and health and safety regulations, including food safety compliance.
This role is integral to ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers and a safe working environment for team members. Whole Foods Market values team collaboration, professionalism, and a strong work ethic in its Maintenance Associates. The position requires readiness to work all scheduled shifts, attendance at trainings and meetings, and strict adherence to the company’s quality goals and standards. Although no prior retail experience is required, candidates must be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing or walking for extended periods.
The employment type offered is hourly, with a wage range of $15.00 to $24.40 per hour, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market provides comprehensive benefits through its "Whole Benefits" program, which is available to full-time and part-time team members. Benefits include eligibility for store discounts, paid time off, health and wellness support, financial wellness programs, and other perks. Eligibility for these benefits varies based on factors such as job type, location, and length of service. Whole Foods Market fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace, emphasizing equal opportunity and fair treatment for all employees regardless of protected characteristics.
