The Sanitation Supervisor at Latitude 36 Foods plays a vital leadership role within the Production and Sanitation Department. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the incumbent is responsible for supervising and coordinating the sanitation team to ensure all food processing operations are carried out in a clean, safe, and compliant manner. This position is critical in upholding compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), FDA, USDA, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, and other applicable food safety regulations. The Sanitation Supervisor will manage daily sanitation activities, including cleaning production equipment, facility areas, and floors, while ensuring that all sanitation procedures are documented, monitored, and aligned with the company's policies and industry best practices.

This role requires not only strong supervisory and leadership skills but also expertise in process development, troubleshooting sanitation issues, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sanitation efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising food safety. The ideal candidate will be dependable, results-oriented, and capable of motivating their team while maintaining strong communication with cross-functional teams such as Production, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance to align sanitation goals with overall operational objectives. Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2-4 years related experience and/or training
  • Minimum 2-3 years of sanitation supervisory experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment
  • Experience with industrial sanitation equipment, chemical usage, safety protocols, sanitation audits and regulatory inspections
  • HACCP and SQF certifications preferred
  • FDA and/or USDA experience preferred
  • Ability to work nights, early morning, weekends, or holidays as required
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and employee relations skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in wet/dry and hot/cold environments
  • Ability to climb ladders and access machinery as needed
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts
  • Bilingual a plus

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-4 years related experience and/or training
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience in food manufacturing or industrial sanitation procedures
  • Minimum 2-3 years of sanitation supervisory experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment
  • Experience with industrial sanitation equipment, chemical usage, safety protocols, sanitation audits and regulatory inspections
  • HACCP and SQF certifications are preferred
  • FDA and/or USDA experience or both are preferred
  • Dependable, hands-on team player who delivers results and ensures compliance with FDA MSS and supports USDA, as needed
  • Willing and able to work nights, early morning, weekends, or holidays as required for business needs
  • Previous hands-on experience with computerized inventory control systems using ERP or MRP
  • Strong analytical and both oral and written communication skills
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills, and well developed observational and analytical skills
  • Strong supervisory, administrative, and employee relations skills
  • Highly organized and great attention to detail
  • Outstanding team building and leadership skills, with a proven ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish a plus)

Job Duties

  • Ensure Safety First is always practiced and observes and adheres to all job safety rules
  • Ensure the safety of all employees operating equipment through proper training on procedures, enforcement of safety rules, enforcement of proper documentation, and overall departmental safety
  • Ensures all employees are trained on procedures and monitors that standard operating procedures are being followed, while ensuring trainings are properly documented
  • Directs cleaning of equipment and work areas in a safe and efficient manner
  • Creates, maintains and updates Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), as needed
  • Inspects facility premises for unsanitary practices and conditions
  • Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies
  • Interprets company policies to employees and train/enforces safety programs
  • Works closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance teams to align sanitation efforts with operational goals
  • Maintains sanitation records in SF360 and develops KPI reports
  • Ability to troubleshoot sanitation-related issues and implement solutions effectively
  • Leads, mentors, and develops the sanitation team, fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and food safety
  • Oversee the safe and proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals, ensuring that all staff are trained and equipped to use them safely and effectively
  • Manages equipment and facility sanitation schedules in conjunction with the planning department
  • Manages employee schedules relevant to cleaning and sanitation requirements
  • Ensures the safety of all employees in the operation of equipment through proper training, enforcement of safety rules, documentation, and following proper procedures and GMP protocols
  • Adherence to good manufacturing practices and government standards in cooperation with the Quality Assurance department. Responsible for corrective action on food safety and quality problems
  • Develops and implements efficient cleaning schedules to minimize production downtime, and identifies opportunities to improve sanitation efficiency and reduce costs without compromising food safety
  • Confers with management, planning, and production personnel on sanitation problems, and recommends changes in equipment, lighting, ventilation, or work practices as part of continuous improvement
  • All other assignments, responsibilities, and projects as assigned by management
