The Sanitation Supervisor role at See's Candies is a critical position located at the La Cienega Plant in Los Angeles, CA. This supervisory role involves managing a sanitation team of 35 to 40 personnel, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of manufacturing and packaging equipment to the highest standard. The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing both minor and major cleaning operations, delegating team responsibilities, and training team members on safety protocols, cleaning efficiency, and correct sanitation procedures. The role requires working closely with the sanitation team, supporting cleaning processes directly when necessary due to staffing requirements. It also demands strict adherence to approved chemical usage and compliance with safety guidelines.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards, including GFSI, HACCP, SQF, FDA, GMP, and GDP, is essential for this position, alongside expertise in completing corrective actions such as RCA, CAPA, NCR, and CAR. The Sanitation Supervisor plays an important role in identifying potential contamination harborage points and high-risk areas and devising appropriate mitigation strategies to maintain a safe production environment. They are expected to follow all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures to ensure worker safety. Reporting directly to the Manager, this position requires strong leadership, time management skills, and the ability to follow directions effectively.
The role also encompasses maintaining detailed sanitation documentation, creating or updating Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and ensuring all sanitation steps comply with See's standards and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). Additional duties include supervising the Pest Management Program and managing cleaning logs, as well as understanding and troubleshooting Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems. Candidates must be capable of effective communication in English to document reports and correspondence, perform precise measurements in mixing cleaning solutions, and apply practical problem-solving skills. Physical demands of the role involve standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs or ladders, and working safely in confined spaces.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency
- 3 years supervisor experience
- 1-2 years sanitation experience
- 1-2 years working in a food manufacturing facility
- Familiarity with GMPs
- Must be able to stand for 10 hours
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to climb stairs ladders and work in tight constricted places safely
- Must be able to read write and understand English
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide measuring units
- Knowledge of and use only approved chemicals following safety guidelines
- Ability to follow Lock Out Tag Out procedures
- Ability to identify harborage points and high risk areas and create mitigation strategies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency

- 1-2 years sanitation experience

- Ability to read write and understand English

Job Duties
- Supervise day-to-day sanitation functions ensuring processes are in accordance with the SSOPs
- Ensure MSS related tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Review and retain sanitation documentation ensuring proper completion and call out any gaps
- Delegate responsibilities as necessary according to company needs
- Create or update SSOPs to reflect best practices
- Disassemble clean and sanitize processing equipment such as hoppers mixers enrobers swecos conveyors scoops and all other machines components and parts as directed by the Manager
- Measure and mix cleaning and sanitizing solutions as per instructions by the Sanitation Manager or Chemical Provider
