Now hiring for the position of Food Sanitation Specialist on the first shift from 6am to 2pm, with weekend availability as needed. This role offers a competitive pay rate between $17.36 and $18.38 per hour. The Food Sanitation Specialist is responsible for meticulously cleaning and sanitizing equipment and facilities within the food production environment, adhering to regulations such as SQF, GMP, and sanitation policies to ensure a clean and safe manufacturing operation. This role requires the disassembly and reassembly of production machinery, thorough cleaning of ovens, mixers, trays, bins, and other baking equipment, as well as operating various cleaning machines like power washers, sweepers, vacuums, and floor scrubbers. The role demands a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance with stringent food safety standards.

In addition to maintaining cleanliness throughout the production areas, restrooms, office spaces, and other company facilities, the Food Sanitation Specialist must effectively handle disposal of waste materials and support ongoing food safety initiatives. Candidates in this role should possess strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently with exceptional attention to detail, and prior experience in sanitation within a manufacturing context. This fully hands-on role also involves physical activity such as lifting up to 50 pounds, working in varying climate conditions throughout the facility, and standing or moving for extended periods. Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate safety labels on chemical containers
  • Ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to adjust or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds in all directions
  • Ability to withstand various climate conditions ranging from -15 degrees to 110 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to stand, walk, squat, and perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, ramps, poles, and scaffolding
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach
  • Ability to move in different positions in various environments including tight or confined spaces
  • Ability to work in an environment with flashing lights, horns, and powered moving equipment
  • Compliance with GMPs and maintain a clean work environment
  • Wear personal protective equipment as needed

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of sanitation experience in a manufacturing setting, food manufacturing preferred but not required
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry, production, and technical documents in English
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient understanding of sanitation procedures and equipment
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety standards
  • Strong leadership and communication skills within a team environment
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and safety
  • Basic math skills and ability to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Prior proficiency in equipment uses and operation
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English

Job Duties

  • Responsible for daily facility sanitation and custodial duties according to Sanitation Master Schedule
  • Clean all production areas according to SQF regulations, GMP, and sanitation policies
  • Disassemble machines, sanitize, foam rinse, and reassemble production lines for use
  • Clean and sanitize production line operating equipment including ovens and mixers
  • Use power equipment such as floor sweepers, vacuums, scrubbers, mops, power washers
  • Perform housekeeping duties including restrooms, lunchroom, offices, lobby, conference room
  • Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining sanitary work areas
